The world’s seven wonders
The towering cityscape and yonder
Vehicles vying for speed with thunder
Lights transforming night into day with grandeur
The masterpiece in paint and sculpture
The artistic yarns woven with splendor
A bouquet resplendent with plastic flower
Crystal urn filled with synthetic perfume’s grandeur
The sweetness of the cooked dessert we go for
Historical and cultural heritage we are so proud of,
They are mere replicas of human endeavour
To emulate the natural wonders,
That unfurl like a magic to spellbound beholder:
The flitting and glimmering fireflies
The dewdrops and icicles reflecting the sunshine bright
Spiders’ pearly web, birds’ homely nest
Vibrant rainbow like the sky’s crest
Redwood towering from a tiny seed
Pearls like dainty oyster’s milky bead
A tiny bud blooming into a beautiful flower
Dark grey clouds melting into life giving shower
Earthy sculptures created by the wind and water
The Sun, the moon and the stars-
Seem etched in the sky forever.
Majestic range of snow-capped mountains
Tall and grand waterfalls; cool, shaded glens
Eggs transforming into beautiful chicks, then hens
A gluttonous caterpillar metamorphosing
Into a beautiful flitting butterfly
Marvelous mysteries of the vibrant aquatic life
Honey, the sweet nectar in the bees’ hive.
Birds in the air and animals in the forests and fields
From a tiny grass to a juicy and sugary sugarcane weed
The hot springs and the respite of a desert’s oasis
Pristine beauty of nature in varied mood of seasons
Beaver’s dam and wasp’s earthen nest
Ant’s hill and an ape’s leafy breakfast-bed
But the most amazing
wonders
Helping me responsibly admire the natural wonder,
Are the precious
gifts of Mother Nature:
Mother’s birth pangs birthing and caring for her child
Father’s industry to feed and protect his progeny
Is really like walking the extra mile.
They have gifted me with:
Earthy rhythm of the heart
In tune with the cosmic rhythm of the mind
Earthy rhythm of the heart
In tune with the cosmic rhythm of the mind
My eyes that behold the beautiful sights
My ears that help me amuse
On the rhythms of
nature, a sheer delight
My olfactory that regales me
With the earthy and floral fragrance sublime
My taste buds that treat me
To the natural nectar of water, fruits and trees divine
My ability to sense the warmth and softness
Of the place called home and its hearth.
My ability to walk my life’s journey
As one of the teeming million offspring of Mother Earth:
I owe it all to you
Mother (Earth)
Your integral part I am
I am born from you
I live through you
I will disperse
As fire, earth, water, air and ether
-Your elements
At the end of the journey of mortal life.
I was born as a thought
I live my dream
And remain immortal as space and time.
